Description
CIVIL WAR ANTHEM– “All Quiet Along the Potomac”. “All quiet along the Potomac tonight, no sound save the rush of the river; While soft alls the dew on the face of the dead — The picket’s off duty forever.” Simple triangles are used to form 4 medallions — a version of the classic Ocean Wave design. This quilt is named for a Civil War anthem written by Lamar Fontaine in 1864, a heartbreaking ballad about a private’s last night on the watch over the Virginia river. The song brought many a soldier’s wife to tears as she waited for news of her sweetheart. This pattern will produce a quilt that will measure approximately 75″ x 75″. Make this historic pattern with the featured Civil War Anthem fabric (see additional pictures of collection above) or use your own selection of fabrics and color schemes.
